Hi, I’m Steph and welcome to my new blog! I recently moved to a different host, so that’s why my blog has taken on a different look.
For those who don’t know me yet, I pursued art for most of my life and studied fine art in college. After a period of searching for the “right” career path post-college, I decided to become a therapist and went to grad school for marriage and family therapy. Since then, I have worked with some of our society’s most marginalized populations as a therapist. Now, I am a full-time mama to my little girl, Maddie.
So why did you start a blog?
I’ve been going back and forth about starting a lifestyle blog for about a year now. During a recent internal dialogue with myself, I realized that I was a lot more critical and discouraging to myself than I have been to my past students and clients. I challenged myself to think of a scenario in which I was the client and how me as a therapist would respond to the client’s year-long predicament on whether or not she should start a blog. Seeing her passion succumbed to her discouragement, my sincere advice for her would have been “to love God who has given her her gifts and to love herself by pursuing her passion.” It was a moment when I had to practice what I had so easily preached to others all these years.
With all that, what does your blog entail?
Simply put, my life and my style. I am passionate about serving the marginalized populations through therapeutic healing. I also love affordable fashion and home decor projects. And the artist in me loves to paint. So for me, starting this blog is like a self-love project. I want to claim all the little pieces of me and the passions that God has given me that I have neglected over the years because of my career and life changes. I hope to share my style, projects around the house, mommy difficulties and happiness here. I am a bit apprehensive, but also very excited to see how this blog unfolds over the months and years. Thank you for reading this and I hope you have a great day! 🙂
